Notes:                   ***** PEANUT ALLERGY ALERT!! *****

-PLEASE do not send peanut butter, or ANY peanut products to school.

-Please join the P.T.O.:  Help our class win an ice cream party!!  

-Please make sure that homework is returned daily. Help your child study. 

-Please help students read A.R. books and ask them questions about what they read. Five 100’s in a row- Gotcha, 10 passed tests by the end of the month- Pizza Hut coupon for a personal pan pizza (free)! 

-Please send money or snack and juice daily (correct change if possible).

-Due to the amount of skills being covered in Reading Horizons lessons, practice sheets will be sent home 2-3 times during the week (too many skills).

-10-4-18:  Picture Retake Day

-10-8-18 through 10-9-18: Fall Break (No school.)

Phonics: Reading Horizons- see sheet with letter charts in Bug Books for

Digraphs (ch, sh, wh, ph) and Special Vowel Combinations. Also practice MCW List 8. Help your child practice writing dictation sentences using some of the Most Common Words from any of the lists we have practiced (1-7). **Be sure to check for errors. **Students will have to write sentences for the test. See homework sheets for the week. Test:  Tuesday        IXL:  2 (D1-D6),2 (C4, C6)

 

ReadingReview Author’s Purpose, Main Idea/Theme, Compare/Contrast, Character/Setting, Cause/Effect, Sequence (order of events in a story) ***Students will have to answer questions about unfamiliar stories.

Test:  Monday & Tuesday   IXL:  2(R1), (T2), (S1), (P1)

 

Language:  Review Complete Sentences

 -We will review, identify, and complete sentences, and begin writing a narrative composition.

 

Math:  Review Place Value

-We will use place value to compare 3-digit numbers, represent numbers to 1,000: word form, standard form, expanded form, identify the value of a group of tens, and determine odd/even numbers. Test:  Monday/Tuesday- on skills reviewed this week (***see previous daily homework sheets in Bug Books).    IXL:  2(B1), 2 (B2)

 -We will review, identify, and match subjects and predicates.
Subject (naming part of the sentence- who/what)/ Predicate (tells what the subject does- action part) **Students should be able to identify/match subjects/predicates.

Math:  Skip Counting               IXL:  1(A9, A6), 2(A4, A14)
-We will practice skip counting 3-digit numbers to 1,000. We will also continue to practice identifying and representing numbers to 1,000:  using models, word form, standard form, expanded form. Please help your child practice by making sure that he/she does the homework sheet each night. Remember to return homework every day. Students will receive a "Gotcha" on Friday for having their homework every day of the week. Test:  Thursday   

Social Science:   Rocks   (Students may bring in 5 rocks to share on Thursday)

Contractions, short/long vowels, Phonetic Skills 1 and 2 (marking short vowel sounds in words and using 1 Guardian Star-asterisk, for 1 letter or digraphs that make 1 sound). Also practice MCW List 8. Help your child practice writing dictation sentences using some of the Most Common Words from any of the lists we have practiced (1-7). **Be sure to check for errors. **Students will have to write sentences for the test. See homework sheets for the week.

Test:  Friday     IXL:  2 (XX3, XX6), 2 (OO.2, OO.3)

 

Math:  Comparing 3-digit Numbers (<, >, =)
