I am beginning my twenty seventh year of teaching in public schools. Twenty-three of my years have been spent teaching in the Elmore County school system and this is the system I graduated from. I had the opportunity to be a "stay at home" mom when my own children were preschool age, and I worked in private preschools during that time for four years. Having invested many years in early childhood education, this obviously is my passion and it is a joy to work with the youngest!

My name is JoAnne Hodum. I have lived in the Elmore County area most of my life - going from 1st - 12th grade in the Holtville schools and lived in the rural area of Deatsville. I am married and my husband, Mike Hodum, teaches with me at Coosada. When not teaching, we enjoy time on our farm where we have cows, chickens, goats, and our newest venture is in beekeeping. I have two married sons - one is a chiropractor in Jacksonville, FL; he and his wife are just settling in to this new town and business. They are expecting their first child in October! My oldest son is a pediatric physical therapist at Children's Hospital in Birmingham. He and his wife live in Birmingham and have two children under the age of 3 so their household is always busy! Mr. Hodum has two married children with five grandsons and one granddaughter, so together, our extended family numbers 18!  I am a member of Coosada Baptist Church and would welcome you there if you are searching for a church home. I am looking forward to this school year, as Coosada Elementary School is a wonderful place to work, and watching your children bloom is a daily delight!
